Exactly What Does A Marketing And Advertising Communications ...

It?s primarily Pr with tunnel vision glasses on that specifically focuses on marketing.Of course nowadays, when the matter of advertising interactions is pointed out, it?s usually described within the perspective of Internet marketing. Of course there?re omissions however for the greater degree, this is so. You will see, when it comes to the web as well as advertising, there?s a lot to debate.

An advertising and marketing agence de communication for example can really help a businessman learn the huge challenges of Internet interactions in a business way. For instance, everyone understands that the Web includes literally billions of potential clients however, just what about the untold numbers of opponents?

The majority of entrepreneurs often just discount their competitors or even minimize it. Alternatively, they often aim their efforts and resources on setting up a customer or client foundation and just assume that over time market forces will ultimately pull them ahead of their opponents.

A Marketing And Advertising agence communication on the contrary, could possibly bring about an extensive internet marketing plan which works not only to make a client or customer foundation but in addition at the same time operates to vanquish your web based competition. The truth is, like it or not your top challengers are actually doing the same to you.

Who hasn?t listened to the tales of companies that have been introduced on the web which shot to the top and help earn their owners millions in a fairly short time. Certainly everyone has. So then could it have been luck or perhaps a simple series of privileged accidents which forced these web based success stories? In addition, if so, then how can you get your hands one of the blessed rabbit?s feet they used?

The simple fact of the situation is that there was not luck included in anyway other than a really handful of select scenarios. Rather, it was effective marketing agence de communication visuelle that involved the mystique of a shooting star. You see the tale that you heard which had the organization being propelled by its very own spontaneous push was only the fact that, a story which was created as an element of a comprehensive marketing interaction strategy.

You notice it drew in clients or customers because it compelled their rivals aside. Of course, no one wants to stand up in the way of a speeding train. Rather, everyone wants to get on board. Even though this technique won?t work for every business online, for the ones that it has worked for, it performed beautifully. Still, the fact remains that there is a successful marketing and advertising communications approach for you, regardless of whether you have yet to implement it or not.

NJ: Still 3rd Highest Car Insurance In Nation

Flickr User The Truth About

A new study shows that New Jersey has kept its place as having the 3rd most expensive car insurance in the nation.

According to data from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, car insurance will cost $1,218 in New Jersey this year.

Deana Lykins, president of the Insurance Council of New Jersey, says rising costs for personal injury protection are to blame. ?We have been spending a $1.23 for every $1.00 that we get in premium on PIP and that has been happening over the last decade?and so that inability to manage those costs are being seen through premium increases.?

She says the state?s rates were driven down after a series of reforms in 2003 brought more car insurers to the state and more competition, but now carriers are starting to feel the effect of these medical costs and are passing them onto you. ?Some of the companies were kind of swallowing the losses in order to keep policyholders, but now they are no longer able to keep up with that any longer.?

Lykins says there are some pending regulations in front of the state Department of Banking and Insurance, ?We hope they will help?but we don?t feel they are a solution.?

She says policyholders are starting to feel the effect of higher medical costs and fraud. ?There is a huge insurance fraud problem in New Jersey and until we get that under control with effective cost containment within PIP, we will constantly be fighting this battle.?

German business confidence up more than expected (AP)

FRANKFURT, Germany ? German business confidence rose for the third month in a row in January, according to the much-watched Ifo index released Wednesday, suggesting a widely-predicted European recession may not be as bad as feared.

The index's increase to 108.3 points from 107.2 in December exceeded market expectations for a reading of 107.5. Business managers' assessment of how things are now slipped, but the part of the survey that measures future expectations rose.

That is a sign that Germany, Europe's largest economy, may show moderate growth this year despite the debt crisis that is pushing some countries back into recession.

The German statistics agency said the economy may have shrunk by about a quarter percentage point in the last three months of 2011, but final figures are not yet out. The government has cut its estimate for 2012 growth from 1.0 percent to 0.7 percent as the debt crisis weighs on Germany and its trade partners in the 17-nation eurozone.

Europe is struggling with a crisis over too much government debt in some countries. Greece, Ireland and Portugal are in deep recessions after being bailed out by other eurozone governments to avoid defaulting on their debts, while the economies of Italy and Spain are troubled as well.

Financial markets turmoil has eased in the first weeks of 2012 after a gloomy end to 2011, with government borrowing costs falling on bond markets and stocks rising. Much of the credit is given to large loans handed out to the banking system by the European Central Bank.

The ECB's head, Mario Draghi, has said the action prevented a credit cutoff and indicated he saw signs of "stabilization" in economic activity, although still at a low level. The central bank cut interest rates in November and December by a quarter point to try to stimulate the economy.

Andreas Rees at UniCredit said three monthly Ifo rises in a row was historically a dependable indicator that the German business cycle is about to turn upward in coming months. "Signs are mounting that we hit a bottom" in the first quarter of this year "with a pick-up in spring or summer becoming more and more likely."

The upbeat Ifo numbers follow purchasing managers' surveys released Thursday that showed German activity in services and manufacturing rose unexpectedly.

Despite Germany's resilience, many economists think the eurozone will go through at least a mild recession this year. The International Monetary Fund predicts the economy will shrink by 0.5 percent, and the situation remains fraught with uncertainty. Greece is trying to get bondholders to agree to a reduction of 50 percent in the face value of the country's bonds as part of a second financial rescue package; failure could mean Greece might not be able to pay debts coming due in March and trigger financial turmoil of unknown extent and consequences.

Jennifer McKeown, senior European economist at Capital Economics, said the Ifo numbers "suggest that the economy is holding up relatively well, but activity is nowhere near strong enough to provide a meaningful boost to the eurozone's periphery."

She said the future expectations, a better indicator of future activity than the overall survey number, suggests annual growth of 1.5 percent. The future indications part of the index rose to 100.9 from 98.6 the month before.

Alienation Of Affections

An amended complaint filed by the Illinois Administrator alleges that an attorney engaged in unethical behavior with respect to the immigration status of his mother-in-law.

The complaint states that the attorney married a citizen of the Ukraine in April 1998. Mother-in-law came to visit and eventually married one of the attorney's neighbors. The complaint alleges that the attorney made false statements to the Department of Homeland Security and the ARDC about the mother-in-law's living arrangements, i.e., whether she had ever moved out of the attorney's home.

There is more. The attorney's marriage went bad and he blamed his mother-in-law. He did not just get mad; he got litigious.

According to the complaint:

...Respondent caused a complaint and jury demand to be filed against [mother-in-law] Antonia, requesting damages in excess of one million dollars for alienation of [wife] Tanya's affections to Respondent. The complaint alleged that, in part because she was angry that Respondent would not buy her a house, Antonia decided to cause the collapse of Respondent's marriage to Tanya, and had persuaded Tanya to have extra-marital affairs. The complaint contained many personal and embarrassing allegations against Antonia and Tanya, and attached personal emails and photographs of Tanya and her professional dancing partners...

...Respondent caused a complaint and jury demand to be filed against two defendants with whom Respondent alleged Tanya had engaged in extramarital affairs. The complaint requested damages in excess of $1,300,000. The complaint contained many personal and embarrassing allegations against Tanya, and attached personal emails and photographs of Tanya and the two defendants who were Tanya's professional dancing partners...

The first suit was voluntarily dismissed. The second suit was concluded with the grant of summary judgment to the defendants.

The marriage ended in September 2007.

The complaint does not allege the the litigation was frivolous. (Mike Frisch)

Fat Joe's Darkside II 'Most Controversial' Mixtape Out

'Right now, it seems that gangsta rap is extinct, so I give you that free,' Joe Crack tells Mixtape Daily.
By Rob Markman

Don't Sleep: Necessary Notables
Mixtape: The Darkside, Vol. II

Headliner: Fat Joe

Key Cameo: "Pushing Keys," featuring Raekwon

Essential Info: In rap, it's important to be multifaceted, feeding fans radio hits while maintaining close ties to the streets. It's a balancing act that Fat Joe has mastered throughout his career, most recently with the release of his super-catchy single "Another Round" (with Chris Brown) and his murderous mixtape The Darkside, Vol. II.

"I'm a grown guy, I'm a grown man, so for me, I don't have no problem touching that sexy stuff — and I do everything," Joe told Mixtape Daily last week. "I might have the most controversial, the most hard-core mixtape out: Darkside II out right now online; [if] you want that real hip-hop, go get it."

When the Bronx, New York, rap titan first emerged on the scene in 1993 with his debut album, Represent, his official moniker was Fat Joe da Gangsta. By the time his sophomore record came out two years later, he'd simplified his name, going by Fat Joe. Still, he's always maintained a hard edge.

"Right now, it seems that gangsta rap is extinct, so I give you that [music] free. I give you The Darkside II, it's better than some people's albums," Joe boasted. "It's that hard, you might hear that and be like, 'Damn.' I give it all: I do songs for the ladies, I do big songs and I touch the streets at the same time, so I feed everybody."

"Another Round" should provide Joe with ample radio play and visibility as he promotes his upcoming 11th album, while Darkside II will keep Crack cemented in the streets. Starting out with the French Montana-assisted "Welcome to the Darkside," Cook Coke Crack sets off his verbal murder spree in grand fashion and doesn't let up. Jadakiss rides shotgun on "Dope Man," a gangsta's reworking of the Beatles' classic "Yesterday." There's no shortage of hard-core rap joints either. Even on the sweet-sounding "Angels Say," Joe spits about John Gotti and late-night gunfights over Mark Henry's soulful production.

Through it all, Fat Joe has managed to keep his integrity as an artist, and for him, that's the most important thing. "I don't really get no flack, no backlash, like, 'Damn, Joe, you doin' a joint for the girls?' I never really get that."

(AP) ? Talking to the TV is usually a sign of extreme agitation, mental instability or loneliness. TV manufacturers are set to make it a more rational behavior this year, with a range of sets that respond to speech.

LG Electronics on Monday said it will sell a remote with its high-end flat-panel TVs that contains a microphone. You'll be able to speak into the microphone to enter text on the TV for Twitter updates and Web searches. You still won't be able to change the channel or control the volume by yelling at the TV.

Samsung Electronics also said it would have TVs that responded to voice commands. In addition, it's launching its first TV with a built-in camera. As you watch the ES8000 set, it will watch you back, looking for hand gestures that prompt it to move the onscreen cursor or launch apps.

The two Korean rivals were the first to show new models at a preview day ahead of the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which opens Tuesday. The show will feature many variations of so-called "smart" or Web-connected TVs.

"Smart" TVs have been around since 2008, but two things are holding them back. One is that the conventional TV remote is a hopeless tool for Web browsing, typing, and other PC-like behaviors.

"Anyone who's actually checked email on a 50-inch TV knows it's not a good experience," said Shawn Dubravac, head of research at the Consumer Electronics Association, which puts on the show.

As TVs become increasingly complex, more buttons are popping up on remotes. But that's a trend that can't continue, Dubravac said. TV makers are now looking for alternatives. Last year, LG introduced a "Magic Wand" remote that's motion-sensitive, much like a game-console controller. This year, it's taking another page from Microsoft Corp.'s Kinect game console and introducing a 3D camera that perches on top of a TV and interprets viewers' motions, letting them control the on-screen cursor with hand movements.

"I think 2012 will be the year of the interface," Dubravac said.

Samsung will be using its built-in cameras to try to recognize who's in front of the TV. It will then bring up the right household member's personalized "hub" of applications.

The other thing holding back "smart" TV: Viewers interact more with the cable or satellite set-top box than they do with the TV itself. The set-top box is where you find shows and change the channel.

Cable and satellite companies seem far less interested in revamping how people interact with their boxes. Dish Network Corp. unveiled a new box it calls the "Hopper" on Monday. It takes digital video recording to a new level by automatically recording all primetime shows of the four major networks. But it comes with a conventional remote, covered in buttons.

The renewed focus on smart TVs comes as TV makers are scrambling for new features to interest buyers. U.S. TV sales are in decline after a rush to upgrade to high definition and flat panels abated.

Amid the slowdown, Asian TV makers tried to make 3-D a "must-have" feature, but that effort has fallen flat. Leichtman Research Group conducted a survey that found 80 percent of Americans have heard of 3-D TVs, but just 5 percent of intend to buy one.

UPDATE 1-Duke, Progress Energy extend merger termination date

Mon Jan 9, 2012 5:04pm EST

Jan 9 (Reuters) - Duke Energy and Progress Energy said they would extend by six months the termination date of their $13.7 billion merger, days after energy regulators snubbed a proposal that sought to allay fears of the combined company's market monopoly.

The termination date of the deal, which would make the combined company the largest U.S. electric utility with 7.1 million customers in six states, would now be July 8.

Duke and Progress had said that a possible closure of the merger would be pushed back to at least March as they were looking to submit a new market mitigation plan to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

Shares of Duke closed at $21.47 on Monday on the New York Stock Exchange. Shares of Progress Energy closed at $54.53.

Featured: Rockchip Wants to Bring Android 4.0 Tablets in US and EU for Under $100

Rockchip, an ARM chip market for inexpensive tablets, wants to bring Android 4.0 tablets in USA and Europe, from China. After the big news that Ainovo wants to make a $100 Android 4.0 tablet, using the MIPS architecture, it seems Chinese companies want to do it too now, and they want to expand to US and Europe to enlarge their markets and have higher profits.

One of the reasons I believe Android can?t be beaten in market share anymore, is because it can be used for any kind of device, and it can easily bring down prices fast in a certain market, thanks to it being an open source OS that is free for manufacturers. The Chinese manufacturers have paid attention to the ?success? of the $100 HP Touchpad firesale, and they know there?s a huge market for tablets that work reasonably well, have the latest OS, and cost $100-$150.?The $200 Kindle Fire has also reinforced this idea that cheap tablets are popular, and millions of people at a time want to buy them.

Rockchip will face competition from ARM titans like Qualcomm, TI, Nvidia and even Samsung in Europe and US, but I think they know those chip makers won?t compete with them directly for now, because they won?t be in tablets that are so cheap. So the road is clear for Rockchip to dominate the very low end of the tablet market.

MIPS will be their main competitor at that level, however MIPS has one small disadvantage of not being able to run most 3D games and other applications that have been written with native code and not in Java. The Dalvik virtual machine works across architectures, but native code doesn?t by default. So unless the developers adopt that architecture, too, some apps won?t work on MIPS, although 95% of them should still work. Still it?s an advantage that Rockchip will have over MIPS and their tablets.

O'Brien formally introduced at Penn State (AP)

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. ? After a two-month search to replace legendary head football coach Joe Paterno, Bill O'Brien was formally introduced on Saturday.

The 42-year-old issued a statement, then took questions from the media before posing for pictures. He reiterated his intention to remain offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots for the duration of their playoff run. New England has a bye this weekend.

O'Brien replaces Hall of Famer Joe Paterno, fired Nov. 9 in the aftermath of child sex abuse charges against retired assistant coach Jerry Sandusky. Not only is O'Brien replacing Division I's winningest coach, but he must also guide a program shrouded in uncertainty. Besides the criminal investigation into Sandusky, the NCAA has launched its own inquiry.

O'Brien said he will compile his staff over the next two or three days, and get the assistants on the recruiting trail immediately while he works with New England. He will retain assistant coach Larry Johnson from Paterno's offense.

"I'm going to surround myself with good people," O'Brien said, "and I'm excited to do that."

O'Brien joined New England in 2007 following 14 seasons on the college level, including stops at Duke, Maryland and Georgia Tech. He played football at Brown ? Paterno's alma mater.

The Patriots are third in the NFL overall in scoring (32.1 points per game), and second in total offense (428 yards) and passing (317.8 yards).

Penn State finished a 9-4 campaign with a 30-14 loss in the TicketCity Bowl to Houston on Jan. 2. The Nittany Lions relied on defense much of the year after the offense struggled with a two-quarterback system.

In a statement, President Rodney Erickson commended O'Brien as someone who would "maintain the school's commitment to excellence on the field and in the classroom. We have that leader in Coach O'Brien."

O'Brien has no previous ties to Penn State and a proud program tarnished by a scandal that also led to the departure of President Graham Spanier.

O'Brien and Paterno do share at least one connection though ? both coaches attended Brown University.

"I'm the leader of this family now," O'Brien said. "I can't wait to get going on this, get everyone headed in the right direction."

This was O'Brien's first year coordinating the Patriots' legendary offense, but he has also coached star quarterback Tom Brady since 2009 and spent 2008 coaching receivers.

O'Brien recently was in the spotlight when he and Brady got into a heated argument, shown on national television, after Brady threw an interception in the end zone in the fourth quarter of the Patriots' 34-27 win over the Washington Redskins on Dec. 11.

He was asked about the incident and his relationship with Brady. He spoke of the Pro Bowl quarterback in glowing terms, before addressing the scene on the sideline.

"Football is an emotional game," he said.

New England closed the regular season on an eight-game winning streak, and scored 513 points, the most in the AFC. Brady threw for 5,235 yards and 39 touchdowns, with just 12 interceptions.

Brady has described O'Brien as a great coach and friend. Receiver Julian Edelman on Friday in Foxborough, Mass., described O'Brien as charismatic and emotional.

Laughter Kills in the GOP Field (The Atlantic Wire)

Forget polls and fancy models: if you wanted to make a decent?prediction of how the candidates would finish in Iowa, you would have done a decent job looking at how often the GOP candidates have been made fun of by late-night comedians.?The topsy-turvy nature of the Republican nomination race has meant that virtually every contender has donned the media's frontrunner mantle. And with it comes scrutiny, especially from people paid to joke about topical things. And what material they've had! A pizza-making philanderer, a bumbling rough-and-tough Texan (again!), and someone who can't Google their own name, the 2012 presidential election cycle has been especially generous to late-night comedians. The?Center for Media and Public Affairs?has tallied the number of jokes made at their (and other public figures') expense in 2011 on the three most-watched late-night shows:?The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,?Late Night with David Letterman, and?Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. And it shouldn't surprise anybody that from January 1 to December 10 of last year, no candiate gave comedians more comedic fodder than Herman Cain.

Related: Perry Discovers a Country Called Solyndra

Does that order of finish look familiar? (Well, at least familiar-ish?) Cain, our biggest loser here, didn't even make it to Iowa, bowing out?on December 3. The next two are Rick Perry (No. 6 here, No. 5 last night) who sounded like he was about to quit the race but changed his mind once Michele Bachmann (No. 5 in late night, No. 6 in Iowa) decided to drop out on Wednesday. Newt Gingrich was No. 4 in both jokes and in the caucuses. And then our three bunched-up finishers: Mitt Romney, who eked an 8-vote win in Iowa, then Ron Paul (who finished No. 3) and finally Rick Santorum, who won in the joke primary, and won in Iowa by nearly tying Romney. (The Center for Media and Public Affairs did not tally Jon Huntsman jokes, which is fitting since he did not compete in Iowa.)?

Related: Third Wife's the Charm for Newt

"This shows that it?s hard to vote for somebody while you?re laughing at them," writes CMPA President?Robert Lichter.?So hey, maybe that lack of media attention for Ron Paul (and while we're at it, for Santorum as well) actually did them some good. Consider it proof that all publicity is not good publicity.?

Free iPhone 4S deal tempts Chinese fanbois

China Unicom is offering a no-money-up-front iPhone 4S to Chinese customers in a deal that is sure to make iPhone users worldwide feel a wee bit underappreciated and overcharged.

If your Chinese reading skills are superior to those of your Reg reporter, you can find details on China Unicom's website. If not, you can attempt to parse Google Translate's effort.

According to Bloomberg's interpretation, the deal ? which begins on January 13, the iPhone 4S's debut day in the Middle Kingdom ? is sweet for users but a gamble for China Unicom, the country's second-largest wireless service provider and the only one to currently offer the iPhone, although talks between Apple and rival China Mobile have been rumored.

For 286 yuan per month ($45.30), China Unicom will provide a 32GB iPhone 4S for users who sign up for a three-year contract. For 386 yuan per month ($61.15), a user can get a 16GB iPhone 4S on a two-year contract.

Here in the US, AT&T's least-expensive plan for the 32GB iPhone 4S costs $39.99 per month for 450 "Anytime Minutes" for users who want to call both mobile and landline phones ? but you'll pay $299 for the phone (plus tax on the full iPhone 4S value), and incur a $36 set-up fee. One assumes that the China Unicom base contract is voice-only, as well, but The Reg was not immediately able to confirm that supposition.

If you'd like to use your AT&T iPhone 4S for data and messaging, the lowest-cost option is an additional $15 for 200MB of data, plus $20 for unlimited messaging, or $0.20 per message. Although our lack of Chinese-language skills prevent us from reading China Unicom's pricing table, their plans appear to ratchet up, as well.

Sucking up all of the iPhone's subsidization costs is a risk to China Unicom, as is the 286-yuan plan. Perhaps the wireless service provider has been seduced by the time-honored temptation of "Sure, we're losing money ? but we'll make it up in volume."

More likely, they're taking a longer-term view, hoping that once subscribers move to their service they'll stay for years to come ? years in which China Unicom could increase tariffs on both basic and add-on services. ?

California lawmaker detained at airport over gun (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) ? A California lawmaker who is a vocal advocate for gun rights was briefly detained at an airport on Wednesday after bringing a loaded gun to a security checkpoint, authorities said.

California state Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, a Republican, was cited and released, Los Angeles Airport Police said in a statement. Donnelly said he forgot he had packed the gun in a carry-on bag.

He was stopped at a U.S. Transportation Security Administration X-ray screening station when a .45-caliber Colt handgun was discovered, said Nico Melendez, a spokesman for the agency.

Donnelly was on his way to board a Southwest Airlines flight at Ontario International Airport, about 40 west of Los Angeles. The flight was destined for the state capital Sacramento.

His gun had four rounds inside and a spare magazine had an additional five rounds, Melendez said.

"When I arrived at the security check point, an X-ray machine revealed that I had forgotten to remove a gun from my carry-on luggage," Donnelly said in a written statement.

"At that time, I was questioned by airport police, cited for possession of an unloaded firearm. I was released as soon as it was determined that I was not a threat. I boarded the next flight without incident," he said.

Donnelly was mistakenly cited for possession of an unloaded firearm, but his citation would be changed to possession of a loaded gun because the weapon had rounds inside, airport police said in a statement.

The gun was handed over to the Ontario Police Department.

The citation for possession of a gun is a misdemeanor, and Donnelly faces a maximum of one year in jail and a $1,000 fine, Airport Police spokeswoman Sergeant Belinda Nettles said.

TSA agents found more than 1,200 handguns in carry-on bags at U.S. airports in 2011, Melendez said.

Donnelly has been a vocal advocate for gun rights, and he sharply criticized California Governor Jerry Brown last year when the Democrat signed into law a ban on openly carrying handguns in the state.

Donnelly, 45, was due to appear in court at a later date for bringing a gun to the airport, police said.

Jamie Dupree's Washington Insider: New Gingrich Ad

By Jamie Dupree

Newt Gingrich has released a new TV ad meant for voters in New Hampshire and South Carolina which goes after GOP frontrunner Mitt Romney's economic ideas.

The ad starts out with a hard-hitting line that Romney's own plans are "timid" and then wraps up with a positive evaluation of Gingrich's own ideas.

Can this get Gingrich moving up again?

Katy Perry: What's Next After Russell Brand?

Pop star has plenty to keep her busy, between her music and budding acting career.

Katy Perry is kicking off 2012 a single girl. Over the holiday weekend, news broke that Russell Brand had filed for divorce after a year of marriage with the pop star. And while Perry has remained low-key since the split, she is amping up for what is sure to be another busy year.

Perry hasn't been spotted in public since Friday's breakup announcement, but she did make some non-relationship-related headlines Tuesday (January 3) when a demo version of the Jessie James track "Bullet" hit the Net; Perry co-wrote the sassy track for the singer's 2009 album.

The singer has two shows later this month — one scheduled for January 19 in Jakarta, Indonesia, and another January 22 in the Philippines — as part of her California Dreams Tour. Come February, Perry is set to appear at the Grammys, where she is up for two awards, including Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for "Firework."

It's been nearly two years since Perry's megahit Teenage Dream album dropped. While no word has come down about new music from the star, when MTV News spoke to producer Tricky Stewart, he hinted that Perry was working on a new release of some older material, including a track called "Dressing Up."

"Katy and I went into [the studio] just to address some issues with records that we had done in the past that didn't end up going on Teenage Dream," he told MTV News about the top-secret project. "So we are in the process of just listening and freshening up things and getting ready for something special she has going on."

Perry hasn't announced plans to tackle any more acting roles, but in 2011, she made fans laugh on the big screen as the voice of Smurfette in "The Smurfs" and as the host of "Saturday Night Live" in December, teasing a possible second career in film and TV.

Since the split made headlines, Perry has not addressed the divorce. However, Brand said in a statement, "Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I will always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."

USA: Not Just Fudge, Cocoa Village, Florida

The United States is one of the most diverse countries on earth, jam packed full of amazing sights from St. Patrick's cathedral in New York to Mount Hollywood California.

The Northeast region is where it all started. Thirteen British colonies fought the American Revolution from here and won their independence in the first successful colonial rebellion in history. Take a look at these rolling hills carpeted with foliage along the Hudson river here, north of New York City.

The American south is known for its polite people and slow pace of life. Probably they move slowly because it's so hot. Southerners tend not to trust people from "up north" because they talk too fast. Here's a cemetery in Georgia where you can find graves of soldiers from the Civil War.

The West Coast is sort of like another country that exists to make the east coast jealous. California is full of nothing but grizzly old miners digging for gold, a few gangster rappers, and then actors. That is to say, the West Coast functions as the imagination of the US, like a weird little brother who teases everybody then gets famous for making freaky art.

The central part of the country is flat farmland all the way over to the Rocky Mountains. Up in the northwest corner you can find creative people in places like Portland and Seatle, along with awesome snowboarding and good beer.

Rams fire head coach Spagnuolo, GM Devaney

St. Louis, MO (Best E Casino) - The St. Louis Rams have fired head coach Steve Spagnuolo after three disappointing seasons.

In addition to Spagnuolo, general manager Billy Devaney was also dismissed. The moves came one day after the Rams completed a dismal 2-14 campaign.

"I had the privilege of working side by side with each of them over the past three years and really enjoyed every minute," said Rams chief operation officer Kevin Demoff. "They were good people who unfortunately got the wrong results, so today we seeks a new direction."

Spagnuolo finished his brief tenure with a mark of 10-38. The Rams were 1-15 in his first year, then took a big step forward at 7-9 in 2010 before regressing this season.

This year's team was expected to contend in the NFC West, but started with six straight losses and never recovered. The Rams' lone wins came against New Orleans and Cleveland in a three-week span, and they finished the year with a seven-game losing streak.

"This was a difficult decision for many reasons. We have tremendous respect for Steve and Billy as people and football professionals," Rams owner Stan Kroenke said in a statement.

"No one individual is to blame for this disappointing season and we all must hold ourselves accountable. However, we believe it's in the best interest of the St. Louis Rams to make theses changes as we continue our quest to build a team that consistently competes for playoffs and championships."

Spagnuolo was named the Rams coach in January 2009 after spending two years as defensive coordinator for the Giants. He helped New York to a Super Bowl title after the 2007 season and could again draw interest from teams looking for a defensive coordinator.

Devaney had been the club's general manager since December 2008 when he was promoted from his position as vice president of player personnel.

Oil could hit $200 a barrel under new sanctions: Iran

World oil prices could soar to $200 per barrel if Iran's petroleum sector is hit with new Western sanctions, Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi told Saturday's edition of a news weekly, Aseman.

"There is no doubt that the price of oil will increase drastically and the international markets will have to pay a heavy price," Qasemi was quoted as saying.

"One can't give accurate predictions, but sanctions on Iran's oil will drive up the price of oil to at least 200 dollar" per barrel, he said.

Qasemi comments comes as the European Union was considering a possible EU embargo on Iranian oil imports. EU foreign ministers are to meet on the issue in a month's time.

US President Barack Obama is also expected to soon sign into law additional restrictions on Iran's central bank, which acts as the main conduit for Iranian oil sales.

The United States and its allies have already imposed unilateral sanctions on Iran's economy.

World oil prices slipped slightly in end-of-year trading, but still remained generally high because of the heightened tensions between the United States and Iran.

Brent North Sea crude was at $107.02 per barrel in London, while New York's main contract, light sweet West Texas Intermediate crude, was at $98.99 a barrel.

Iran on Saturday kept concern alive over its threat to close the Strait of Hormuz to oil tankers by readying war game missile tests near the entrance to the Gulf.

Twenty percent of the world's oil moves through the Strait of Hormuz, at the entrance of the Gulf, making it the "most important chokepoint" globally, according to information released Friday by the US Energy Information Administration.

Iran is subject to four rounds of UN sanctions over its nuclear programme, which many Western countries allege is being used to develop atomic weapons. Tehran denies the allegation.

China reports suspected human bird flu case (Reuters)

HONG KONG (Reuters) ? China has reported a suspected human case of the H5N1 virus, or bird flu, in a southern city bordering Hong Kong, officials said on Friday.

The patient, a 39-year-old man living in Shenzhen, developed symptoms on December 21 and was admitted to a hospital on December 25 because of severe pneumonia, the Centre of Health Protection of Hong Kong said in a statement. He is now in critical condition.

China's Ministry of Health said preliminary laboratory tests on the patient's specimen by the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention of Guangdong Province had yielded a positive result for H5N1.

About 10 days ago Hong Kong culled 17,000 chickens at a wholesale poultry market and suspended all imports of live chickens from mainland China for 21 days after a dead chicken there tested positive for the H5N1 virus.

The virus is normally found in birds but can jump to people who do not have immunity to it and researchers worry it could mutate into a form that would spread around the world and kill millions of people.

In recent years, the virus has become active in various parts of the world, mainly in east Asia, during the cooler months.

Authorities in China are especially worried about the spread of infectious diseases around this time when millions of Chinese travel in crowded buses and trains across the country to go home to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

The current strain of H5N1 is highly pathogenic, kills most species of birds and up to 60 percent of the people it infects. Since 2003, it has infected 573 people around the world, killing 336. The virus also kills migratory birds but species that manage to survive can carry and disperse the virus to new, uninfected locations.

The virus can kill birds and humans in a matter of days but can survive far longer durations in a moist, cool environment.

It transmits less easily between people but there have been clusters of infections in people in Indonesia and Thailand in the past, where the virus is believed to have been passed between family members through direct contact with contaminated respiratory secretions.

Ethiopia troops enter Somalia, control border town (AP)

NAIROBI, Kenya ? A resident and a military officer say Ethiopian troops have entered a border town in Somalia in what would be a third front against al-Shabab militants.

Resident Mohammed Abdi said hundreds of residents fled the border town of Beledweyne on Saturday after hundreds of Ethiopian and Somali troops moved in.

Capt. Hashi Nor of the Somali military confirmed that Somali and Ethiopian troops had moved in.

The movement appears to be a third front against al-Shabab, Somalia's strongest militant group. Kenyan troops are fighting al-Shabab in Somalia's south, and African Union troops in Mogadishu have mostly pushed al-Shabab fighters out of the capital.
